Design Goals

During the summer of 2020, we were asked to update this kitchen that had not been updated since it was built in 1972. The entire room was a time capsule of dark wood paneling and cabinets, yellow ochre countertops and matching yellow ochre linoloeum sheet vinyl flooring. Since they were linited on funds, I suggested painting all the surfaces in off-white and instead of changing the cabinet faces, I was able to cut apart the faces and create inlaid glass panels. The hardest part was of course the countertops. Since they wanted something unique, I created my own butcher-block countertops. After their initial completion, I finished the surface with 6 coats of polyeurethane varnish and then installed them with the same sink with a updated faucet
